Re: Knox Box Rapid Entry System
To whom it may concern,
An Ordinance (08-O-14) was adopted by the Board on November 3, 2008 which requires all business within the Village of Summit to install a Rapid Entry System.
The Knox Box is installed above a door entering your facility with a key to your door inserted in the locked box. This box can only be opened with a key solely used by the Summit Fire Department to gain immediate entry to your facility in cases of fire or medical emergencies. This key cannot be duplicated by anyone else.
The benefit is no delay gaining entry to a facility and no damage being done to your facility by the Fire Department entering the building.
Contact the Summit Fire Department for an application which must be signed by the Fire Chief before applying for the Knox Box. The applications are available through the Fire Department and can be ordered for a nominal fee, depending on the type of box you select.
